Akseki Trip
The historic Sarıhacılar rural village with its museums, the medieval Silk Road, and Turkey's largest underground lake.
We leave in the morning around 8-9 to drive towards Konya. You will receive small breakfast packages in the car that you can enjoy during the trip. There are about 10-14 happy Finnish hikers in the car.
The village of Akseki Sarıhacılar was built about 800 years ago along the medieval Silk Road and is famous for its beautiful traditional architecture. The houses are built entirely of natural materials, stone and cedar wood. The village currently has about 24-25 residents, so you can walk along the historic streets in peace and even step on the ancient Silk Road's stone path. If you're lucky, one of the village's children will be our guide when we visit the beautiful mosque in the village. The wooden details of the historic mosque are delightful, and there is plenty to see in the village's beautiful national museum.
We will enjoy a Turkish lunch in a restaurant in Ormanan village with an authentic Turkish atmosphere. Local delicacies will surely taste good before we head to the underground lake.
By 2:00 pm at the latest, we will start driving towards Magaras National Park. The drive takes just over an hour. We will stop for about 15 minutes on the way to take photos of the beautiful mountains. At the end of the road, we will find the beautiful Altınbeşik cave, where Turkey's largest and Europe's third-largest underground lake is located. The cave is 125 meters long, and the water is about 9 meters deep. The highest point in the cave is even 101 meters high, although we enter by boat from a 40-meter-high opening. Nature shows its power again.
After these great experiences, it's time to head back to Alanya around 4:00 pm. The drive takes about 1.5 hours. We will take one coffee break along the way.
